November 9, 2003 4:30 am. This is when I got the call from the doctors. Eric had an infection. he was put back on a ventilator after being on C-Pap for a week. The docs thought an infection was introduced via PICC (the IV in his belly button) Line. They are watching/looking for pnuemonia as his lungs were cloudy, but only in small areas. His potassium levels were way too high. that on is its own could cause heart failure. they were doing everything they could.
He was 2 pounds 3.5 ounces.
Gram negative. slow growing bacteria.
we were losing him, but didn't yet believe it.
I never wrote in his journal again after this day.
