North America's Largest true bug...

The guys at work know me well. They find a bug, spider, snake or other small 'being', they bring it in my office or describe it to me, and I look it up and figure out what we found... AND: if we manage to catch it and it is interesting, I bring it home to show the kids.

So, Monday, Rodney comes in my office. "I don't know what it is, but DON'T let it out!!" he says. He's got the biggest bug I have ever seen in his Gatorade bottle. Dustin pokes air holes, and I look it up...

Giant Water bug. North America's Largest True Bug. Also known as a 'Toe-Biter'. It will eat insects, and even small fish, tadpoles and frogs from what I have learned.

So it's home with us now. We are hoping to see it eat a feeder fish...

Cool! I can't wait to see what crawls in on another truckload of wood... we get the most interesting bugs!
